Business Tip:
If your day-to-day work does not allow an opportunity for you to create/develop what I call "intellectual property," make time to do so. Intellectual property is something in which the outcome will result in your name being attached to something long after you have moved on from your current position (or job). These projects can be anything from a database file to a video tutorial. Whatever the project may be, it should be something you are able to attach your name to, if not publicly, definitely within the actual piece (ex., PDF document or within the video credit). Being associated with a program/project that stands the test of time is a testament to your work and can be something to highlight in future job interviews. Don't expect to have top billing or front-page type of exposure, just as long as your involvement is documented and witnessed for all that follow.
